Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal data Shortlist (“we”, “us”) collects when you use shortlist24.in, why we collect it, and what choices you have. By using the site you agree to this policy.
1. Data we collect
- Account details: your name, email address and password. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider and are not stored in readable form.
- Profile details you choose to give: your university and the field you are looking for.
- Content you add: roles and companies you track, deadlines, interview dates, job descriptions, notes about your experience, resume text, any resume file you upload (PDF, DOCX or TXT), and resume builder and interview prep entries.
- Guest mode: if you continue as a guest, your data is kept only in your own browser on your device and is not sent to our servers.
- Technical data: basic information such as IP address, browser type and pages visited, which is collected by our hosting and security providers and by analytics or advertising services if we use them.
2. How we use your data
- To create your account, sign you in and save your tracker and resume.
- To calculate ATS scores and generate resumes, cover letters and other results you ask for.
- To send account emails such as email confirmation and password reset.
- To keep the site secure, fix bugs and improve the product.
- To show advertising, if we enable it (see section 5).
We do not sell your personal data.
3. Where your data is stored
Account data is stored with our backend provider, Supabase, which hosts the database and handles sign-in. The site is served through a web hosting provider. These providers process data on our behalf and may store it on servers outside your country.
4. Third-party services
The site loads fonts from Google Fonts and code libraries from public content delivery networks (such as jsDelivr and cdnjs). Your browser connects to these services when you load a page, so they may receive your IP address.
AI voice interview. If you use the AI voice interview, the resume text you provide, the role you enter and your answers (typed, or converted to text by your browser’s speech recognition) are sent to an AI service provider to create the questions and your feedback. Shortlist does not store your resume or answers on its servers for this feature; we keep only a daily usage count. If you answer by voice, your browser may send your audio to its own speech service (for example, Google for Chrome or Apple for Safari) under that company’s privacy policy. Your device’s text-to-speech reads the questions aloud. Please remove phone numbers, addresses and ID numbers from your resume before using it. The provider may use content sent through free plans to improve its services.
AI agent. If you use the AI career agent, your messages, saved resume text, profile notes and tracked applications are sent to an AI service provider so it can generate a reply. We do not sell this data. The provider may use content sent through free plans to improve its services, and it may be reviewed by people. Do not include sensitive information you do not want processed, such as phone numbers, addresses, ID numbers or health details. AI replies can contain mistakes, so review them before using them.
5. Cookies and advertising
We use browser storage to keep you signed in and to remember your settings. If we show ads, third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and other sites. You can manage personalised ads at adssettings.google.com, and you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
6. How long we keep your data
We keep your account data until you delete it or ask us to delete your account. Backups may keep copies for a short time after deletion.
7. Your rights and choices
You can ask us to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, and to withdraw consent where we rely on it. You can export a backup of your tracker from inside the app. To make a request, email shortlist24by7@gmail.com. If you live in India, you may also have rights under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and if you live elsewhere you may have similar rights under local law.
8. Security
We use reputable providers and encrypted connections (HTTPS). No online service is completely secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
9. Children
Shortlist is meant for students who are at least 18 years old or have permission from a parent or guardian to use it. If you believe a child has given us personal data without permission, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it was last changed. Please check it from time to time.
